Would You Rather: Poll Blog

In connection with my other posts this week I have been thinking more about developing my own personal learning network. I have followed bloggers and other teaching professionals on Twitter for years now, however it has all been passive. I have watched others interact from the sidelines. One of my goals is to dive in and find others to share and collaborate with online. So, with that thought I would like to pose this question...

  1. I think a personal learning network is an asset because it gives growth within the education system and that network is like a web it will continue to attach itself. This will be in closer connection with the students where they will be caught in the web to benefit from the personal learning network.

    1. I agree, even in a K-6 environment the difference between K and 6 is great and I love learning from professionals who teach the same grade level as I do!

  2. Good question. My district PD doesn't feel particularly useful or relevant; I love my PLN because it's so varied!

    1. How did you go about developing your PLN? I follow bloggers and some people on twitter but I am struggling to find ways to really put myself out there and connect with others. What do you do that has made your PLN feel successful?

  3. I think PLN's are more effective than when our PD is directed from the top down. Your results are indicating the same thing. Great idea for a poll.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts! I was just in a district PD after I posted this thinking about how I would like to be able to develop my own training.

  4. I feel like you get more out of PLN compared to District Professional Development. When participating in District Professional Development, I usually scan the room and see many staff members not paying attention at all. This results in wasted time and sometimes money for the district.

    1. I totally agree! I wonder how we can make district PD more meaningful and personal to teachers.
